We have adopted these alternative ways of playing "Vatican" in response to player's comments about their experiences. From time to time we will be adding additional rules but our goal will always be to preserve the integrity of "Vatican" as the best simulation of a papal election.
Alternative ways of getting sufficient level one positions in order to aspire to higher offices and ease the transition from Phase I to Phase II:
1. Reduce the number of level one positions required to attempt a level two position to 2 of either color.
2. Permit more than one player to hold the level one offices described as "member" of a council, commission or congregation since these level 1 offices account for 11 of the 16 on that level.
